USAgain, the textile recycling company based in West Chicago, IL, recently announced the winners of its annual Green-T Awards. Chicago Sky, recipient of the award for Commitment to Recycling at Events, was one of the 15 award winners.
The Green-T awardsare to recognize and reward individuals or organizations that support recycling and sustainability in Illinois. The awards were presented Oct. 7 at the Green-T Awards ceremony where Jasmine Allen, Chicago Sky Partnership Activation Coordinator, accepted the award.
Chicago Sky partnered with USAgain to provide convenient clothes and shoes recycling options for players and attendees at the season games. They stationed eight clothing drop-off locations throughout the concourse and near the entrance gates of Allstate Arena. Fans who brought a bag of clothing to the July 22 “Go Green Game” received a free ticket to a future 2014 Sky season home game.
“Basketball is a team sport and so is taking care of our planet,” said Adam Fox, Chicago Sky President and CEO. “By partnering with USAgain we’ve formed a unified movement toward an eco-friendly future.”
“We love working with event organizers to spread the message about textile recycling,” CEO of USAgain Mattias Wallander said. “Chicago Sky did a great job of offering textiles recycling at their games this year. We congratulate them on this feat and hope together we continue to spread recycling awareness at their games”.
